About Cancer Institute

A Legacy of Service (Since 1954)

One of India’s oldest comprehensive cancer centers, the Cancer Institute (WIA) at Adyar, was inaugurated by the first Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. The Cancer Institute was founded on a simple but powerful belief:
No patient should be denied cancer care because of an inability to pay.
For over seven decades, the Institute has served patients from across Tamil Nadu and India with dignity, equity, and excellence.
