Dr. Muthulakshmi Reddy

Dr. Muthulakshmi Reddy was a Trailblazer in Surgery and Women's Rights is the story of a pioneer path-creator for women. She was the first girl student in Maharaja's School for Boys in Pudukkottai, the first Indian woman surgeon from Madras Medical College, the first Indian member of the Women's Indian Association, the first woman member of legislature of Madras Presidency, the first woman deputy speaker and the first alderwoman. 

Dr. S Krishnamurthi

 Dr. S. Krishnamurthi was a pioneering oncologist and former Adviser of Research and Planning at the Cancer Institute (WIA) in Adyar, Chennai. A visionary leader in cancer care and research, he played a pivotal role in transforming the institute into one of India’s most respected centers for oncology, dedicated to accessible and compassionate treatment for all. 

Dr. V. Shanta

V. Shanta was a pioneering Indian oncologist and a transformative leader in cancer care, best known for her decades-long service at the Cancer Institute (WIA) in Chennai. Joining the institute in 1955, she dedicated over six decades to expanding access to affordable, high-quality cancer treatment, especially for underserved patients. Under her leadership, the institute grew into one of India’s premier comprehensive cancer centers, combining clinical care, research, and education. Renowned for her compassion, discipline, and unwavering commitment to patient dignity, Dr. Shanta received numerous honors, including the Padma Vibhushan, for her exceptional contributions to medicine and public health.
